The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, in conjunction with Janet Bahouth/Crash Core, and through funding by the Maryland Highway Safety Office, created resources to enhance Maryland EMS clinicians, firefighters, and 1st responders’ knowledge of motor vehicle crashes (MVC)and occupant protection in order to better:
- Assess a MVC scene for the crash scenario and how that affected the occupants
- Determine the severity of injuries based on crash scene cues
- Plan the patient’s treatment and transport
- Accurately complete eMEDS so it is useful for comprehensive assessments and future analysis/planning
