Maryland Stars of Life Awards

Each year, the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) celebrates EMS Week by honoring men and women across Maryland who have contributed to the EMS system. The eight categories for awards relate to specific incidents occurring from January 1 through December 31 each year. Right Care When it Counts Awards

The Maryland EMS for Children program recognizes children and youth in Maryland who have demonstrated Steps to Take in an Emergency or Ways to be Better Prepared for an Emergency. Actions taking place January 1 through December 31 each year are eligible for nomination. We recognize children and youth who acted so that others would receive “The Right Care When It Counts.” Each nominee receives a patch and certificate and be eligible for a state award at a ceremony during EMS Week. R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Hero Award

Each year at the Shock Trauma Center Celebration, the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Hero Award is presented to a group of individuals whose effort in saving a life exemplifies the very best of the elite Maryland EMS & Trauma System. Individuals including, but not limited to, the 911 operator, EMS Clinicians, Shock Trauma facility and staff and rehabilitation team are honored. We would like to ask for your assistance in nominating a case for us to showcase at the 2024 Shock Trauma Center Celebration to be held in the Fall of 2024. We are looking for a story of survival that can be attributed to response time, care received in the field, and treatment by the Shock Trauma Center. Cases involving inter-hospital transfers will also be considered. Attached please find the Hero Award Criteria and Nomination Forms for your use. Kindly complete and return the nomination form and any supporting documentation by Friday, March 15, 2024.
